Radical Sons release EP, play Cicero’s tonight
Young St. Louis indie rockers Radical Sons continue their steady rise with the release of their debut EP on Secretly Canadian Records imprint, St. Ives, July 7. Catch them at Cicero’s tonight.
The EP is called Throwing Knives and the first single, “I’m So Sick of the 21st Century,” was featured on Pitchfork yesterday.
A limited 300-copy run of custom-designed vinyl version of the EP will also be available, with a few extra homemade demos.
The kids show promise with a sound that is understated — no grating talk/shouting choruses found here - but not boring. They grew up on underground NYC bands like Television and the Velvet Undies and it shows in the music and lyrics. Take this line from “21st Century”: “I’m feeling nostalgic for things I’ve never known.”
After tonight, they’ll hit Chicago and New York, including the Mercury Lounge on June 25, for CD release shows.
