Chicago roots rock label Bloodshot Records is all up in our grill these days as three more of its bands will grace our stages next week. The Bottle Rockets performed at Blueberry Hill on Saturday.

The Detroit Cobras (left) are set to play Off Broadway this Tue. (10/20). Every time the fiery garage R&B act has stopped here, something beyond my control always prevents me from going, so wish me luck. On this tour, the Cobras are also opening up for Ireland’s non-STL-stopping Pogues in Denver and Kansas City (boo!)

The Ozark’s coolest rock band, Ha Ha Tonka, will play the Pageant on Thursday (10/22) when they open up for Ludo.

Hank Williams disciple Wayne “The Train” Hancock will play his honky-tonk swing at Off Broadway on Sat., Oct. 24.

On another note, the Asylum Street Spankers are returning in support of their new album, “God’s Favorite Band.” They’ll play Off Broadway on Wed. Nov. 11. The new disc features a few Wammo originals and a cover of one of my favorite Violent Femmes songs, “Jesus Walking on the Water.”
