Reward in mail carrier robbery
ST. LOUIS - The U.S. Postal Service is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information on the armed robbery of a mail carrier Saturday.
The robbery occurred about 3 p.m. in the 4900 block of Theodore Avenue in the city’s Mark Twain neighborhood.
The gunman took personal items and the mail carrier was not injured, authorities said.
The gunman is described as a black male in his mid-20s, about 6 feet tall and weighing 170-180 pounds. He was wearing dark blue jeans, a gray, hooded sweatshirt with navy blue stripes and a blue bandanna partially covering his face, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service said.
Police and postal inspectors are investigating the case.
Anyone with information is asked to call postal inspectors at 314-539-9480 or toll free at 877-876-2455. Tips may also be called in to St. Louis CrimeStoppers at 866-371-8477. All callers can remain anonymous.

They carry no valuables-what an idiot. Uh oh-the paper said he was black. That’s racist.
How about if they said the robber was “not white?”
So when the postal service steals from us, we get nothing - but when they get robbed there’s a $25k reward. hmmmmm….
The reason for the reward amount… it’s a federal offense. The description sounds like the one involved in last nights early morning shooting, doesn’t it?
When the postal service steals from you, they do not stick a gun in your face. Big difference there, Downtown99. Unless you’re talking about the price of stamps these days. Talk about highway robbery.
Gimme a break, BriRam. The paper saying he was “black” is simply using a common convention. No harm was meant by it and it’s only stating a fact. Don’t turn this portion of the article into something it’s not.
Wasn’t a guy shot on Theodore just yesterday? I think the 4600 or 4700 block. Nice area.
The Postal Inspection Service has a record of success that is envied by the FBI, et al; It ALWAYS gets its suspect.
My late Father was a carrier for 41 years and he said it rejected applicants who went on to the FBI - not that they were shabby, but that the Inspection Service had even higher standards.
