ST. LOUIS - A 15-year-old has been arrested and charged with first-degree robbery in juvenile court for robbing a mail carrier at gunpoint Saturday, investigators said Thursday.

The robbery occurred about 3 p.m. in the 4900 block of Theodore Avenue in the city’s Mark Twain neighborhood. The teen took personal items, but no mail, and the mail carrier was not injured.

Some of those stolen personal items led police and postal inspectors to the teen, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service said, without elaborating.

“This arrest is a result of determination and good old-fashioned police work exhibited by the postal inspectors and detectives assigned to the case,” said J.R. Ball, assistant inspector in charge of the St. Louis office, in a prepared statement. “A large part of the Postal Inspection Service mission is assuring the safety of postal employees and we want them to have confidence that they can focus on their duties. These types of crimes against postal employees are rare, but when they do occur, they become top priority for us,” Ball said.

Any fool should know, that you can not mess with a postal or census employee. That brings all the heat of the US Government down. I’m sure all of his freinds were snitching to all of feds out of the hood, so business could go on as usual

Huh. I’d been wondering who’s holding up the mailman.

15 years old and sticking a gun in a mail carrier’s face. Juvenile laws need to be changed regarding violent crimes. They are not the juveniles of yesteryear. These aren’t joy riders and shoplifters. If they use a gun, it should be automatic adult court from the age of 14 on. If they deserve juvenile treatment, they should have to appeal for that. Default status should be adult.

Certify him as an adult and send him to prison.
