Christopher M. Nance, 26, of the 4600 block of Farlin Avenue in St. Louis, was sentenced today to 10 years in prison for a convenience store robbery in St. Peters.

Nance pleaded guilty in September of one count of robbery. Police said he faked a weapon on June 24 and stole $170 in cash and $144 in lottery tickets from a Mobil station at 203 Mid Rivers Mall Drive. He dropped his ID during the robbery, helping lead police to him.

Prosecutors agreed not to recommend more than an 10-year sentence in exchange for Nance’s guilty plea. Circuit Judge Ted House sentenced Nance to the maximum allowed under the cap.

Assistant prosecutor Philip Groenweghe represented the state. Assistant public defender Heather Donovan represented Nance.

Nance’s alleged accomplice, Amy K. Doolin, 19, of the first block of St. Luke Drive near St. Peters, also is charged with robbery. Her case is pending.

Did I read that correctly? A fake weapon, and he dropped his ID at the scene of the crime? Wouldn’t a swift execution be the appropriate thing here? Natural selection at its very best. Mrs. (Miss?) Nance, you have failed miserably, raising one of the world’s most distinguished numbnuts…

Smart guy, no doubt about it.

How about the teenage girlfriend. A local from St. Peters, so I’m taking a wild guess that Amy is a little white girl enthralled with a “bad boy” black guy. You can see that Nance is from the “hood”. I’m certain drugs are not playing any part at all in their relationship.

Perhaps if they had had state of the art computers at their respective high schools, they’d already be working in the professional arena instead of acting like this.

This has nothing to do with high school computers or the lack thereof.

ersatz -

Where did he go to high school 8 to 12 yrs ago, and what was the state of that school’s computer system/program in the mid- late-90’s?

Right. It’s the school’s fault.

I can’t believe you people don’t know sarcasm when you see it.

Okay, forget the computers. Let’s try midnight basketball.

i am not going to take the side of a criminal, but 10 years for a robbery in which no weapon was used and no one was hurt sounds a bit much. taking into consideration of the overcrowding of the jails for one and the fact that when such a stiff sentence is imposed the next nutball may decide not to leave witnesses.
