One in three execs say they’ve slashed vacation plans
Just in time for the weekend, some news guaranteed to raise a big crocodile tear in the ducts of furloughed or laid off workers wondering if they can afford the gas for a tripĀ to the Zoo this summer:
According to a Robert Half Management Resources survey, nearly two-thirds of the nation’s chief financial officers say they plan to take a vacation between now and September.
Wait, I’ve got that turned around.
Of the 1,400 chief financial officers surveyed by Robert Half Management Resources survey, an astounding 31 percent say they will either forego or shorten their vacation days this summer.
“Many CFOs understandably feel they must remain diligent helping steer their firms through the downturn and, just as important, prepare the business for an ultimate recovery,” Paul McDonald, the executive director of Robert Half Management Services said in a release accompanying the survey.
Woe be the Hamptons.

The other 2/3 may be happy that their CEO’s are getting out of the office for a couple of weeks. I know I am.
Unlike many others who read this newspaper, I have no problem with CEOs making big bucks…with one proviso: THEY MUST ADD VALUE TO THEIR COMPANY. How is it that we tolerate paying millions to ballplayers who don’t perform, and many hundreds of thousands to politicians who not only don’t do the right thing, but are actively picking our pockets?
CEOs who lead their companies to make money AND EMPLOY PEOPLE should be well rewarded. As for the other ones, they should be booted out at the earliest opportunity.
We need more socialism here in the US. Then ALL the CFOs could take vacation, not just 2/3 of them.
And to all CFO’s: I’ll be watching your pay!!! C’mon and take a vacation, I dare ya’. We’ll sic the ‘pay czar’ on thar arse! Har har.
