The U.S. Department of Labor announced this week that it has awarded separate $300,000 grants to the St. Patrick Center and the City of St. Louis to provide job training and employment opportunities to homeless veterans.

Gregory Vogelweid of St. Patrick said the agency’s grant renews funding of a  three-year program that has already trained or resulted in 250 area homeless vets landing jobs.

The city, in a press release, said it will subcontract with the  Employment Connection, a  non-profit that provides career development services  to low-income and disadvantaged individuals, to implement its jobs program for veterans.
