News flash: Women +40 prefer jobs with a good salary, bright future
File this one under DUH:
An “exclusive nationwide poll” conducted by More magazine has determined that working women over 40 prefer “age-appropriate” jobs that pay well, offer decent benefits, flexibility, autonomy, a bright future and a defined purpose.
Quite a departure, I’d say, from the mass preference for low-paying, un-challenging, menial jobs that put you at the mercy of emergency rooms for health care.
The findings are published in the November issue of More. A periodical “celebrating Women 40+,” the November edition also offers the thought-provoking What Cougars Really Want (It’s More Than You Think).
More commissioned the survey of 501 “mid-life” women as part of its list of the “Ten Best Jobs for Over-Forty Women Now.”
Those jobs being…
1) Community Service Coordinator/Manager; 2) Personal Financial Adviser; 3) Environmental Scientist; 4) Registered Nurse; 5) Computer and Information Systems Manager; 6) Education Administrator; 7) Strategic/Crisis Communication Professional;
Accountant; 9) Human Resources Specialist; 10) Small-Scale Niche Farmer.

DUH, indeed. Somebody actually got paid to give that poll and write the story in MORE magazine; also. Why can’t I find a job like that?
