Quick Takes: Warner, Duncans and more
St. Louis Post-Dispatch/STLtoday.com
Just some items, not so much of note, but just of observance:
- “Ex-Ram Warner wants NFL to expand probe of Patriots” by Mike Fish on ESPN.com on site the day after Super Bowl XLII. Here’s hoping Warner can just let it go. If you haven’t read it, here’s the Boston Herald story by John Tomase on bostonherald.com.
- “Athletic director finalists named” was a breaking news item last Monday morning from the college newspaper The (Eastern Illinois University) Daily Eastern News at DENnews.com. Bruce Van De Velde from the University of Missouri is a finalist for EIU’s open AD post.
- “Yankees’ Shelley Duncan ready for 2008 after blood clot treatment” from the Associated Press. The story about Chris’ and Dave’s baseball brother and son sends you to Yahoo! for the story, although I found the headline on Yankees page from Newsday.
- Read John Clayton’s take on honorary STL Sports Nation citizen Kellen Winlsow Jr. in his ESPN.com column from Wednesday. And if you’re following the Pro Bowl, the Hashmarks blog, normally updated by Matt Mosley and Mike Sando, was being updated this week by Chris McAllister.
- Finally, one of Walt Jocketty’s trade busts, Mike Maroth, has landed across the Show-Me state, agreeing to a minor-league deal, complete with a spring invite, with the Royals. Here’s Friday’s Kansas City Star story by Bob Dutton.

STLtoday.com sports producer Neil Joellenbeck, an 11-year veteran of the Post-Dispatch, blogs on what the rest of the nation is saying about STL sports.
