More drivers chasing Carl
Within the STL Sports Nation borders, we sometimes cross the paths of others. So make sure to keep reading Dave Luecking’s Left Turns for all your NASCAR needs. But when honorary citizen and Columbia, Mo.-native Carl Edwards makes racing headlines, we stake a claim.
Edwards was the fastest race-car driver at the Pennsyvania 500 at Pocono. Sunday’s Sprint Cup win vaulted him two places in the Chase for the Cup, although a move from fifth to third may just be academic, presuming he’s a postseason lock for the Sprint Cup championship. There are five races left and the last one at Richmond International Raceway on Sept. 6 may just sort out the Top 12.
Here’s coverage from Sunday’s event.
The Reading Eagle at readingeagle.com: “Edwards rewarded after rolling the dice during the rain” by staff writer Evan Jones. He also had a notebook, leading wtih Tony Stewart, but also including an Edwards item.
The (Allentown, Penn.) Morning Call at mcall.com: “Edwards gambles, wins” by staff writer Keith Groller. He also has leftover notes in his Groller’s Corner blog, if only to check out the photo of him with an STL Sports Nation legend. Go crazy folks!
The Scranton (Penn.) Times Tribune at scrantontimes.com: “Gamble pays off for Edwards at Pocono” by staff writer Scott Walsh. Check out more race coverage from Walsh’s Goin’ Green blog.
