For 16 years, the policy of our nation when it comes to gays in the military has been “Don’t ask, don’t tell.”
And for 16 years, that policy has done little to satisfy people on any side of the arguments about whether gays and lesbians should be allowed to serve in the U.S. armed forces.
Now, a veteran of the Iraq war turned Pennsylvania congressman is pushing to end that policy and allow gays to serve in the military without concealing their sexual orientation.

First it was allegations of torture, now it’s a CIA program kept secret from Congress that has the Bush administration in hot water again.
According to The New York Times, leading Democrats on Sunday demanded investigations of the highly classified counterterrorism program kept secret from the Congressional leadership on the orders of Vice President Dick Cheney.
The Wall Street Journal cited anonymous government officials who said the secret program was a plan to kill or capture al-Qaida operatives. The Journal also reported that money had been spent on planning and training but had not become fully operational.

With public and congressional support dwindling for the proposed health care plan, President Obama held a town hall forum in Virginia Wednesday to gain support. It might have had the opposite effect.
According to Fox News, there has been criticism that the questions asked at the forum were staged and asked by individuals who were members of groups that supported his health care plan. The article also cited reporters who said that the forum was an attempt to control the media.
