I confess — I am.
I moved back to this area in 1997 and did all the right things to make myself available — I’m registered to vote, my driver’s license is in order, the whole nine yards.
Yet St. Clair County — where I live — has not called me to jury duty in these past 12 years. I have to go back to my college days to remember when I was last called to serve on a jury. (It was an assault case, and we acquitted the defendant.)
If I lived in St. Louis, apparently I would have been called multiple…

Sunday’s Post-Dispatch story profiling five St. Louisans from among the NAACP’s list of 100 Most Inspiring St. Louisans is quite a unique and daunting compilation. Of the 100-plus people, it includes folks from all walks of life, some who are in the news often, and others that rarely, if ever make headlines.
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, and the St. Louis chapter is honoring more than 100 area people Sunday evening. If your name is Brewster McCracken, you might have had a hard time at recess when you were a kid. Maybe people still pick on him — and that explains why he picks on others.
McCracken, you see, wants to be the mayor of Austin, Texas. But instead of running an ad saying why he’d make a great mayor, and what he can do for that city, he’s running one ad that disses St. Louis — hard. He points out that in 1904, St. Louis hosted the World’s Fair and probably thought it was the center of the universe. According to Brewster, things have…

It’s been nearly a year since work on “The New I-64″ (more commonly known here as Highway 40) began with the shutdown of all driving lanes between I-270 and I-170/Brentwood Boulevard.
Now, the western portion of the highway is open and the section between I-170 and Kingshighway is closed. That will most likely cause more headaches for St. Louis drivers and residents – and probably is.
I’ve recently driven the new 5-mile section of roadway going west from I-170 to I-270, and had the feeling that I was in another city. Four lanes in each direction and five lanes in places, but was…

Things were looking up for the Rams and their fans through three quarters of Sunday’s game at the Edward Jones Dome. The home team held a one-point lead over the Buffalo Bills with 15 minutes to play.
What was a 14-13 advantage for the Rams quickly turned into a 20-14 deficit in a matter of seconds. Trent Green, elevated to starting QB, threw an interception that was returned by the Bills’ Jabari Greer for a 33-yard touchdown. Final Score: Bills 31, Rams 14.
And the questions surrounding Scott Linehan and the 0-4 Rams continued.
Ownership was in town for the game. Chip Rosenbloom and and his sister, Lucia…
