As President Obama’s approval numbers slip under 50 percent for the first time in Ohio, Vice President Joe Biden traveled to Cincinnati yesterday to defend the administration’s economic recovery package and to ask for patience.

A second stimulus package is already being considered and Republicans are calling the first one passed in February, a “failure,” according to MSNBC. Here’s some more information from Reuters:

Almost five months after Democrats used their majorities in the U.S. Congress to push through the stimulus, the two-year package has had little impact as anxious Americans watch the country’s unemployment rate surge to 9.5 percent.

Today’s the day — President Barack Obama will sign into law the $787 billion stimulus package.

The states will get billions of dollars, and it will mean a tax break of about $400 for individuals or $800 for couples. That’s about $15 a week for couples, and a little more than $7.50 a week for individuals.

So, I’ll take my half of the stimulus and go out there and stimulate the economy. I can get a discount DVD at Target for about $7. Maybe there’s a $5.99 lunch in my future.
