Summer got its steamy start yesterday and the forecast for the whole week is calling for high humidity and high temperatures in the 90s.

And let’s put this out front: We KNOW this isn’t a big shocking investigative news story, so if you want to blast us for writing about the heat, don’t bother. Because even if it’s not unrest in Iran or economic woes, it’s what plenty of people are talking about. Remember, this is a blog called Talk of the day. And it’s hot. It’s going to stay hot, and it’s early in the season.

Is this the strangest winter you’ve ever lived through?

In the space of 72 hours, we’re going to go from shirt-sleeves and golf to winter bundles and ice hockey. I’m not sure this is the weirdest winter I’ve ever experienced, but it has to be near the top.

We’ve gone from glorious blue skies and air conditioning on Saturday, through last night’s pounding rain and now, according to our story yesterday, the National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for the region for tonight through Tuesday afternoon, with a return of nasty weather possible in two separate waves.

Rain is predicted to move in tonight, and with steady, then falling…

Do you wish for more snow, or less?

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Schools are closed, people are yanking sleds out of garages and basements and some St. Louisans are enjoying the 8 inches or so of snow that fell across our area.

I’m one of the people who love snow — the more, the better. We head west every year to ski and come back home bemoaning our wimpy winters.
