Take a leap: Comment on the news in only 29 words
After the huge dog of a TOTD yesterday (sheesh, I didn’t think the topic was THAT bad!), let’s turn our attention to fresh fodder.
It’s Leap Year! And Friday is Leap Day!
So let’s see your comments on recent news events in 29 words or less. Here’s mine:
A new bridge over the Mississippi River? This Missouri guy’s glad for another way to and from Illinois. Or is it just another way to get caught in traffic?
If you need a reminder on some of the current events you could address:
NIU shootings; the beagle; gas prices; new bridge; the St. Louis School Board; the canceled St. Louis County Air Show and Fair; the flu; the Cardinals; Britney; Lindsey; Paris.
(By the way: That was 29 words, too.)
Have fun.

Let’s apply the president’s logic on wiretapping citizens to immunity for the telecom companies. Why would they need to worry if they’ve done nothing wrong or broken no laws?
“Blunt, Blagojevich sign agreement on bridge” scream the headlines. My question – Was it actually signed on the yet-to-be-built bridge or maybe in an office someplace? 28 words.
A surprise to the president, gas is approaching four dollars a gallon in some markets. This is, naturally, justification for extending tax breaks. Of course, to him, what isn’t?
And one more…
On immigration, we are a nation of absolute laws (since it’s such a black and white issue), but telecom giants require retroactive immunity for doing nothing wrong. Got it.
It snowed in St. Louis, It will snow again in St. Louis. It is winter!! How many stories must we read about snow?
spezio’s behavior was unacceptable, he was kicked out. Also the same day Leonard Little was given a new contract.
A new bridge to Illinois? A new and easier way for Robsmyth to get to Brooklyn.
Great stories:wire taping needed to get the bad guys, gas has been so cheap in the 60’s and 70’s time to raise it,Spezio’s gone but then why is Little still here? Hummmm
New bridge to Illinois? The taxes are higher in Illinois then in most US states.Really they are and so there are no neurosurgeons in Illinois anymore due to malpractice insurance being extremely high.
A local dog wins the prize! He makes an appearance at a local restaurant to the enjoyment of everyone. Will I get tossed if I take my dog there?
Kurt: You didn’t have any articles on Global Warming? If you had I would have commented something like, “The inconvenient truth Al Gore has been proven to be a liar..liar…liar…liar, liar…………. ” How many more times could I have used the word “lair” and stayed within the 29 word limit you set?
What I am really asking is what is your definition of one “word”, Is it 5 keystrokes or is a word fallowed by a separation from the next word,
It will be a sad day if prosecutors accept Lakin’s proposed plea and drop the sex-abuse charges. It will prove that money can buy freedom in twenty-first century courtrooms. (29!)
Republicans and Catholics, both purging all but the “true believers” from their ranks. Who will win? The extremists or the peacemakers? They forget: United we Stand, Divided we Fall.

Spezio has a disease – alcoholism. Untreated, it will destroy him. We should give him the space and privacy he needs to heal – the glare of the media isn’t helping.

This Presidential race has an embarrassment of riches. McCain, Obama, and Clinton – all would be good leaders, in different ways. The world will breath easier when Bush is gone.
(
All three are 29 words!)
Diablo’s Juno
A dog named Uno
Spezio’s cut
Blues in a rut
Bruce is gone
That just seems wrong
Jacobs will run
9th‘s race will be fun
Utterly unbelievable to me however I witnessed very young impressionable daughters with encouraging mothers toting Paris Hilton bags at Macy’s last saturday, how I wanted to call child services.
I must be close to the end of my days, I pray, if my values can’t comprehend that Paris Hilton is considered a model for our children of today.
I will not give up, until my last breath, spreading the word that honor, glory and fame comes from the inspirations within one’s soul and not from one’s self.
#12 should be Jacob not Jacobs. My bad.
Biased reporters in Kirkwood, school districts ruled by fools, destructive politicians, challenging weather, mortgage meltdown with bankers taking even more, wages down, taxes up, so what else is new?
What is it about LESS you don’t understand my children? LMAO (So how many entires does it take for a TOTD not to be considered a dog? Randy, are you listening to this degrading of a fine beast?
Fuel Prices cripple U.S. economy.Government agencies unable to reconize true reason for current recession. Consumers no longer able to justify driving to work at $4.00 per gallon.
Slugger: When the topic only gets five replies (and I’m used to more than 40!), I must consider it a dog. And I had high hopes for that one.

1:100 white, 1:34 hispanic, and 1:15 black US citizens are incarcerated. Further proof that racial inequality is alive and well in the USA.
Kurt, well the real “talk of the day” yesterday was the Spezio story. Perhaps we could have had two.
correction to #19:
1:106 white, 1:36 hispanic, and 1:15 black adult males in US are incarcerated.

Just teasing Kurt! I actually enjoyed reading the stories, no matter how few there were. Brought back some memories I hadn’t thought of in years. Rest assured, even if few of us comment, we all love the blog!
Star20…I hope you realize that many more minorities are busted for the same types of crimes whites sail for. (grammar alert) Example: cannabis Take racism elsewhere!
We’re NOT in a recession, we’re NOt in a recession, we’re NOT in a recession,…..WMD”S WMD’s WMD’S …..say it three time you might find yourself beliveing it………NOT!!!!!
Folks trying to be Stars(20) bringing in stupidity and bias, talking christianity while losing god’s ways. Baiting others while saying nothing. We must put up with it. It’s America!
suzyjax: You are probably right about Spiezio; sports topics typically don’t inspire a lot of comments here, so I avoided it. And thank you, slugger, for your kind words.

The only congestion on Poplar Street Bridge west-bound is getting onto I-55 South ramp. The new bridge won’t help this at all.
Great New!, Saint Ralph is running again. The Dems. and the Repubs. have no need to worry about votes being stolen from their candidates. Nader voters are purists and idealists and would never vote for anyone other than Ralph.
Sorry, about going over the 29 word limit in my previous post, I get carried away praising Ralph.
Keep on living in your fantasy world filled with ignorance and false superiority #29 the way of the world forever and ever it seems. Kurt has me counting darnitall.
It’s a sad day on the 29th my Aunt passed away. She fell, needing minor surgery but her sister, POA, opted her to be overmedicated with morphine to die.
Worried about those with fugitive warrants while Spezio hides behind a door with wife obstructing justice pale means cops leave without the assaultive criminal who wrecked car drunk.
“Run Ralph Run”
I believe that I managed to stay within the 29 word limit this time, even counting the parenthesis.
