A typing speed test: How’d you learn — and how fast are you?

For our weekend edition of TOTD, here’s something I thought was kind of fun. I couldn’t get many takers on my other blog, but I’m sure the regular visitors to TOTD will get a kick out of it.
How fast can you type? Visit this site and take the one-minute test. Let us know how you did. My best time so far is 77 words in a minute — no mistakes.
I learned in high school, in a class that used manual typewriters. Then, in college, I was the first journalism class to use electric typewriters in the j-lab. Whoopee!

Oh my, I was a terrible typist when I was a teen…It didn’t take me long to figure out that I should become an executive and hire fast typists. . It worked for me.. I retired when I was 38. It took the typists a lot longer.. Try my method. It works.
I took the test four times. My best was 48 words with one mistake. My worst, 44 words with 3 mistakes. I learned from a little man named Ollie in Room 303 down on Oakland Avenue. If he saw these results he’d smack my knuckles with a ruler.

Don’t remember exactly where I was in the rankings, but I think there were 33,000 or so who were better than I was. Hope their keyboards aren’t smoking.
