How are you coping with the stifling weather?

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

I got in trouble a few months ago when a local blogger misinterpretted something I said: I’d made a remark that was a variation on “everyone talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it.” He hadn’t heard that expression before and thought I was being a doofus.

Anyway, here we are. Everyone is talking about the weather.

Sure, it’s August. What do you expect when it’s August in St. Louis?

But is it worse than you’ve come to expect? How are you dealing with it? Or is it no big deal?

And how many times today has someone said, “Hot enough for you?”

This too shall pass. It’s been relatively nice most of the year. I worked outside all day Saturday and while hot, water every half an hour and staying out of the direct sunlight helped.

I am one of those complainers who insists she loves the summer but then crabs about the heat as soon as it exceeds 85*. This summer seems to have been milder than most so the complaints have been very few. Today, I just stayed indoors and let the AC do it’s thing. I may do that again tomorrow because I know Wed. It will be in the 80’s once again and I can venture out without complaining about the heat. Now if I could just control the rain situation……

Isn’t it wonderful that most public schools will be starting up sometime next week? Most schools have AC, some do not. With the exception of SSD’s school buses, most school districts do not have AC buses. Thank God that my bus has AC!

I’m staying indoors in the air conditioning and not driving anywhere. This way, I’m staying cool and saving my gas money so I can spend it on my electric bill.

I don’t recall anyone saying is is hot enough for you. It’s more like it’s hotter than a B out there. I hate the summer. I’m a three season person and summer is the season that I choose to leave out. As long as I live in this area (which has been and probably will be forever) I guess I will just have to deal with it. It will pass like always and then everyone will be complaining about the cold. The joys of living here!!!!!

I remember reading some Russian author several years ago, and he commented that when you’re happy, and when life is good, you don’t notice if it’s summer or winter. He may have a point!

Since I am currently working the graveyard shift I deal with the heat by sleeping all day. I love spring and summer and don’t care much for this schedule of mine. I absolutely loath winter and see no purpose for it.

By working through it and drinking water.

I deal with it by driving around with my windows down, and taking the kids to the park. It’s hot, and if you work outside you have to be careful. But for the lot of us that work inside all day, it’s not a big deal. If you’re relatively healthy it shouldn’t be a problem.

I try to enjoy the breeze that comes from Pia and Slugger and the rest of that crowd every time they open their mouth. What they say isn’t important but at least they are moving the air around for the rest of us to enjoy…

Actually, the temps this year haven’t been bad at all. A couple of days of 100 degree weather are going to happen in St Louis.
