Know any groups/organizations needing assistance after flooding?

TOTD friends,

I hope you’ll watch this and pass it along. Here’s an example of an organization that suffered losses from the flooding this weekend:

A fund has been created for the Mid-Rivers Junior Football Association to help with losses caused by flooding last weekend at Brown Road Park in St. Peters.

Sunday’s storms flooded football fields in the park, causing an estimated $15,000 in damage to practice equipment and machinery in the league’s concession stand, the league said.

Anyone wishing to donate may drop off checks payable to the Mid-Rivers Junior Football Association at the CBC Bank, 688 Salt Lick Road, in St. Peters. Checks can be mailed to P.O. Box 1656, St. Peters, Mo., 63376.

Do you know of any other groups or organizations that suffered similar losses and needs assistance? Post a note below.

Can you help? Post a note and let us know how!

I would love to help if I wasn’t already busy with our soccer/baseball fields at church. If anyone has ever driven up I-55 at the Meramec River and seen those fields next to the highway, those are ours. And they went under water for about the fifth time this year yesterday. Fortunately our concession stand is on wheels, as is everything else that can be.

I hope as many of you as possible support Mid-Rivers and other organizations that need people power and donations to repair the damage from Ike. Every single place like that does a lot of good for the community and deserves our help.

Don’t they have insurance that will pay for flood damages to athletic fields? If not, why not?

Nice gesture, but are you aware many still don’t have homes down south and here at home? Do you REALLY care about ball fields when folks are homeless for over three years? Shame on you! I played on open fields with no lime lines and these spoiled little pansies you are raising can too. Nothing personal messenger Kurt, but this kind of stuff REALLY ticks me off. Hie their little arses down to help out with cleanup and rebuilding. Then they will learn more than watching their dumb parents abuse umpires over a point or two. GOD! I turned to this page to give serious consideration to listing some orgs, but I see what you’re about. Try Habitat for Humanity, or Millard Fuller’s new housing group. Or the Red Cross if you are more traditional. They can give you all the contacts you need. No balls though. Geez…this is as bad as your poster who talked about building a bigger crapper while folks starve.

I just attended a board meeting of the Make a Wish Foundation. Their HQ building in Rock Hill was totally destroyed in the flooding Sunday. There has been an outpouring from the Community. It looks like they will soon have new office space, however, they are in need a a phone system, printers and a fax machine. They also lost all the auction items for their upcoming “gala” and could use any items which guests to the event will bid on. They are determined that no child will miss their “wish” because of the tradgedy.
