What would you ask the VP candidates in their debate?

Once again, this coming Thursday, Washington University will be host to a major political debate – this time, the face-off between the two vice presidential candidates, Republican Sarah Palin, the governor and Alaska, and Democrat, Sen. Joe Biden from Delaware.

Aside from the on-again, off-again presidential debate that took place Friday night in Mississippi, Thursday’s debate here had the makings of of one of this political season’s most intriguing events.

In today’s story, Vice presidential face-offs have produced memorable moments, we learn that history has shown us that playing second fiddle in presidential politics hasn’t translated into second-rate debates.

The presidential debate between John McCain and Barack Obama on Friday featured relatively few sharp interchanges between the candidates. But with their running mates assigned the task of bringing up matters presidential candidates would prefer to avoid, the tenor of this year’s debate season could change in St. Louis.

If you could be the one posing questions Thursday evening to both Biden and Palin, what would you most want to ask and hear answers?

Question for both:

What were the most significant failings of the Bush administration and how would you have performed differently ?

Palin can’t answer that? Bush has no significant failings

With unemployment as high as it is… What will be your plan for the troops when they come back needing jobs ??????

First do you believe in the separation of Church and State? If you do, then how will your personal religious beliefs be kept out of your decisions in government office?

I would ask only one question. I’d ask S. Palin to withdraw so that McCain could come forward with a possible successor whose qualifications go beyond birthing kids and participation in the PTA.

For Palin:

-Do you still “speak in tongues”?
-Do you think that Dinosaurs walked the earth 4000 years ago?
-Would you support banning books that offend your morality?
-Why won’t you answer the questions about your abuse of power in “trooper gate”?
-How does becoming mayor of a town with no debt and leaving them with millions in debt qualify you as a “fiscal conservative”?
-Your state has has considerably less than a million people, and is so flush with money that they give out a check to citizens just for living there. How is it you can justify hiring lobbyists to go to Congress and get millions in earmarks, paid for by the tax payers of the other states, knowing that the other states (not having oil windfalls) are in financial trouble?

There isn’t enough time to ask Palin questions since the public has been introduced to her for just over a month and she has been shielded from the media. In the few interviews she has granted, she has performed like an ill-prepared sophomore at a high-school debate, repeating questions and offering buzzwords and double-speak in lieu of substance.

Regardless of how you feel personally about Biden, at least he has been vetted…considering his decades in Congress. Palin, however, is supposedly qualified to step in and run our country at a moment’s notice even though her credibility is questionable at best and she seems “afraid” of answering questions about policies and positions.

Having said that, I would ask HER a) why she continues to lie about issues like her “thanks but no thanks” to the bridge to nowhere BS that has been disproven and yet continues to appear in political TV ads b)why she has refused to cooperate with a BI-PARTISAN investigation that she earlier said she WOULD cooperate with related to Troopergate c) what her feelings are on individuals who refuse subpoenas (like her entire staff) d)why rape victims were billed for their rape kits during her tenure as mayor of Wasilla (and which had her SIGNATURE of approval on the forms) e)why her earmarks as governor are more PER PERSON that that of states as large as Illinois f)why her husband was CC’d on government e-mails even though he holds no position within AK government g)why she even asked a “hypothetical” question about banning books to the public librarian whom she later fired and then re-hired (does ANY state BAN books? Why even ask?) h)how her proximity ro Russia qualifies her on foreign policy–and THIS time the questioner should LAUGH IN HER FACE when she attempts to side-step that one…as a spoof video of the interview said: “Well you can see the MOON from Alaska too-does that make you qualified to be an astronaut?”

That would probably take up the entire 60 minutes…but if any time remained,we could have the audience watch the video of Bishop Muthee praying over her at church and asking God to help her get $$$ to become governor and keep her free from “witchcraft” just as HE did in Kenya when he ran a woman out of town who he believed was causing car accidents with her “witchy” powers.

After all of that, MAYBE she could tuck her tail between her legs, admit that the entire thing has been a practical joke, and scurry back to Alaska where she can aerially shoot wolves and give government jobs to her unqualified friends from high school.

Do you still believe Alaska will be the pace of refuge during the rapture? Did your witch doctor laying of the hands experience aid in your efforts to be governor?

Over the years, barriers to equal rights have been broken. Things that were considered moral imperative and social or cultural norms shifted over decades. Considering things like slavery and an individual’s right to freedom, voting and an individual’s right to have a voice in the governing democracy — how do you believe the rights of individuals to choose who they will marry will be viewed in the next few years and then decades from now and what do you believe your role in this will be?
