Who won? And who got in the best shots on the other?
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
So here’s the fundamental question: Who won? Who got the best shots in when debating the issues? Was was the tone and tenor of the debate?
Post your vote in the scorecards below and discuss:

Sara Palin not only had Biden on his heels all night, and won hands down, she showed drive-by media campaign against here to be the huge lie that it is.
take away the heavily scripted talk points and what is left is probably a “nice lady”, with little or no substance. The descriptor still being out to jury in Alaska.
I thought that both candidates did a fine job at debating. Considering the expectations, Palin excelled and Biden did as expected, same old boring Senators that we have been hearing BS from since the beginning of time. Seemed to me like Palin is more in touch with the large majority of American voters, while Biden is just more of the same, old school politicians.
I also felt that Palin removed doubt that she can handle her own in executive office, and find it interesting how some folks claim that Palin is underqualified to be “one heart-beat away” from the Presidency, while the same people have no problem to put an even less qualified Obama in the Oval office.
When Biden said that it would be a “National Tragedy” if he would become president due to the incapaciation of Obama, he could have stopped way short and just stated the truth - It would be a National Tragedy if Barack Obama was elected President!
I am no real fan of John McCain’s Politics either, although I would never question his service to and love of this country, which I cannot say the same for his competitor.
Overall, I thought Palin showed us all that she is quite capable of debating with the well-established, crooked politicians like Biden that she and McCain claim to be attempting to clean-up in Washington- an admirable task.
Palin exceeded expections. I think that is obvious when Liberal CNN praised her with very few knocks except for the extreme leftwingers who wuld be afraid to throw any compliments her way. She has more experience to govern as a Vice-President than Obama does as a President. I like the fact that she is an outsider, however, there is nothing average about her, as she is a highly intelligent, confident woman. I remember when the Democrats were promoting “change” before and we got Jimmy Carter. What a disaster! We couldn’t wait until those four years were over. America, please don’t buckle in and believe this “change” notion again.
I’ll say here what I said elsewhere:
Palin constantly repeated slogans, while Biden went into concrete ideas.
She had clearly been coached over the last couple of days to repeat stock phrases and responses – when the topic went to something she wasn’t coached on, she just repeated an unrelated stock slogan and winked. Some here are claiming that this performance allowed her to win. I guess, like “Mission Accomplished” it’s all in the definition of “win”. If the goal was to come across as an attractive TV anchor cheer leading the faithful with catch phrases, I guess she did win. Or perhaps the definition of win is that she didn’t get pinned down on any question that shows how dangerously unqualified she is to lead this country in these troubled times – well, since she ignored any question on topics where she was un-coached, I guess that’s also a win.
Unfortunately for her and the GOP ticket, I define win as answering the question – whatever question – intelligently and in a Presidential fashion. After all, the role of the Vice President is primarily to be ready to serve if needed. By that standard, I think she failed miserably. If, heaven forbid, Joe Biden was needed to be serve, he would be ready on Day one. Palin would need months of coaching just to be able to spout catch phrases on unrelated topics.
The office of vice president is not the student council, it requires a command of domestic and world issues and how they work. Gov. Palin is likable and attractive but her ability to memorize pat lines and read notes will not do. If 72 year old McCain became ill or passed away, Palin would make the Bush years look like the good old days. The thought of her in charge of our country is scarey , she would be a greater threat to our economy and security than any internal or external source. Bush was elected because he was a guy you would like to have a beer with, look how that turned out.
Palin…won by a landslide? Good grief man, what debate were you watching? Biden was solid. Palin was one rehearsed and nuanced hokey cutsey-ism after another. ICK!
Palin was very smooth but I got the impression her message was memorized and she did not have any idea what she was talking about.
Not surprisingly, it’s only the neocons who support someone as unqualified as Palin as being the winner of this debate. That’s what makes me very sad for this very depressing country. Fortunately, the more intelligent, objective voters in this country seem to be leaning towards Obama.
If you like big government, Biden sounded like big government. Palin has not been in Washington so she lacks the politicians attack gene. She was fun to watch. Able to smile sometimes and answered like she was not drilled. Biden sounded like one of the good ole boys. He talked like a politician talks. I did think they both liked each other and that made it more of a peaceful gathering.
There was no winner. Each helped their party. As I have said many times. The two heads in the white house mean very little. You have to vote for a party that you agree with. If you like big government vote for the Democrats, if you don’t vote Republican.
