What should George Clooney do while he’s in town?

George Clooney

George Clooney

As we brainstormed this idea in the newsroom, my colleague Amanda St. Amand had a quick answer: George Clooney should visit her house! Put aside the fact that Mandy is married. She’d be happy to send him a MapQuest link to her abode.

But with the hunky movie star coming to town to film Up in the Air, we thought it would be fun to recommend stuff Clooney should be sure to do while he’s in the area. Crews were supposed to start setting up yesterday and production could be going on for about five months.

No idea yet how long Clooney will be in the ‘hood. But let’s assume it’ll be for a few months, on-and-off. Besides the Arch and the brewery tour (which I shared with my brother’s family over Christmas), what else would you recommend?

Oh, and one last thing: If you think this is a dumb topic, keep your thoughts to yourself and go over here, where I’m sure you can find a nice discussion about Iraq, or the banking crisis.

Gotta hand it to you Kurt, I never would have thought this topic would reach the century mark of comments, but obviously the sexually frustrated housewives in the area are foaming at the mouth in their fantasy worlds today.

George should head over to the Mattingly Brewing Company 3000 S. Jefferson, nice people, great food, new brew!

hey and on Sunday he can stop in at Oak Hill Presbyterian Church http://oakhillpcusa.blogspot.com/2008/09/roller-derby-adult-fellowship.html
4111 Connecticut, we’re having a luncheon after church to talk about our upcoming mission trip to Eastern Kentucky……more nice people, great food, but no brew….come anyway! Church is at 11am

Tim, thanks for enlightening me. I never really thought of myself as a sexually frustrated housewife. I guess that’s because I’m a guy.

If you look a most of the posts, they’re either trying to be helpful about St. Louis (the St. Louis way), or are written in good fun.

As far as being an extra in a movie, trust me, if you do its, you are a human prop. Back in 1978 or so, they filmed a picture called “Dreamer” with Tim Matheson and Susan Blakely. I was an extra in the movie. I was there 18 hours over two days and got paid $36 (minimum wage). I was offered the chance to do it a third day but declined. I got to meet Tim Matheson who was at that time very sociable. It was cool, but I’m not sure I’d do it again, although I am on film.

Go to a St Louis Blues Game!!! Might enjoy Fox Theatre, if here when Cardinals play that would be good too!! Get a taste of THE HILL!!! PF Changs in Chesterfield, visit some hospitals. Visit Historic Main St in St Charles.

On days not filming tour the state and enjoy the stites such as Meramec Springs in St James, MO might even enjoy opening day of trout season (March 1).Might also enjoy the winery’s in that area or in the Hermann area.

Fly to Sikeston to Lambert’s for throwed rolls!

I highly recommend the White Castle north of I-270 on New Halls Ferry, the Jack in the Box on Nameoki Rd. in Granite City. For a more refined evening fast Eddie’s in Alton fits the bill and if it’s crowded Eddie’s on Nameoki in Granite City is a Fast Eddies knock off. $20 at any of these should get you four star service. Bon Appetit George!!

He definitely needs to go to Onesto at Finkman & Macklind in South City.

George should hear Chuck Berry play in the Duck Room at Blueberry Hill in the Loop. He ought to eat at Ramon’s in Collinsville, Illinois. Maybe he should try SweetPie’s restaurant in Saint Louis proper.

But then again, I have no idea what George likes to do other than ride motorcycles and date.

He should go to PAUL MANNO’S CAFE for THE BEST ITALIAN FOOD IN ST LOUIS. Way better than the Hill. And he should come visit me at work at the bank. And I would also be more than happy to escort him to my hometown of Alton, IL, where we would visit Fast Eddies, get drunk, and then go to that eyesore of a riverboat casino for gambling and Limoncello.
