What should George Clooney do while he’s in town?

George Clooney

As we brainstormed this idea in the newsroom, my colleague Amanda St. Amand had a quick answer: George Clooney should visit her house! Put aside the fact that Mandy is married. She’d be happy to send him a MapQuest link to her abode.

But with the hunky movie star coming to town to film Up in the Air, we thought it would be fun to recommend stuff Clooney should be sure to do while he’s in the area. Crews were supposed to start setting up yesterday and production could be going on for about five months.

No idea yet how long Clooney will be in the ‘hood. But let’s assume it’ll be for a few months, on-and-off. Besides the Arch and the brewery tour (which I shared with my brother’s family over Christmas), what else would you recommend?

Oh, and one last thing: If you think this is a dumb topic, keep your thoughts to yourself and go over here, where I’m sure you can find a nice discussion about Iraq, or the banking crisis.

I was born Frances A. Clooney in 1944 to Leo R. Clooney the grandson of Michael Clooney of County Kilkenny Ireland. All the articles I’ve read about Rosemary was that her family also came from County Kilkenny I believe it was Andrew Clooney. They came from a small town just south of Mullinavat Ireland where my great, great grandfather Michael Clooney came from. We are not a very common name and it would be great if he could meet with the Clooney people in St. Louis, Mo.

He should visit my friends and I in Oakville, especially if he likes to play scrabble and drink marguaritas. We could listen to music, sing, dance and maybe even bring out the wigs and hats.

George, I think you should visit RiverCity Films while in town and give us some helpful hints,314.570.9204..we have some great movies in the can. You should also make a trip to the Lake of the Ozarks, just over 2 hours away, and a beautiful ride. Theres more boats and shoreline on the Lake than the entire West Coast, sounds crazy but true. When you visit, we can find you a place to stay I am sure. We can even satisfy your need for speed, we have boats here that can take you out for a 200mph+ ride. We build docks here at the Lake for some of the largest Marina’s in the country, we would love to have a dock design with your stamp of approval, come vist Ozark Village Docks, http://www.wecoveryouraft.com and when you want to send mail home visit St. Louis Presort on the HIll, http://www.stlouispresort.com and just in case you are looking for a home here to call your own, check out this Castle 20 minutes outside downtown http://www.5700montebello.com Enjoy your stay in Missouri, we have everything to offer..Cpt. The poor guy looks like he’s hard up for a woman, he’ll have to go to the east side.

George, someone might tell you to visit Kimmswick Missouri, if they do just watch your back, it is one of the only towns in Missouri where they can hug you and stab you in the back all in one motion. It once had a riverboat restaurant, a steak house, and interesting shops to visit, now there are only a few shops left worth visiting, Bunny patch, wood carving shop (cool wooden flowers) and a few more. There are a ton of vacancies because they continue to attack anyone who tries to make a change, and by all means don’t leave any trash behind, they will go through it and dig up any information to try to get you in trouble with any potential late taxes you might have, all in the same breath while asking you to support the town events, (tasting an apple, or eating a strawberry), like those are events. You might try a pie at the Owl something, can’t remember the name, the food is good, but the owner probably should have the pie thrown at her for keeping the town productivity down. Anyway, if you go, theres only one way in and one way out, don’t turn your back, and definetly don’t blink. If you get interviewed by a paper called the Leader, don’t worry, it’s worse than the Star, they can’t write a story truthfully if someone else wrote it for them. It’s called the Leader, but in a one horse town, nobodys in second, and nobody wants to be. Better off going to visit Ste. Geneveive, first, at least the history is honest there.

I heard he really likes Italian cooking, so take him to the Hill! And give him a nice tour while there. (I can help)

George Clooney should eat at the best Italian Restaurant which is Vito’s/
He should also visit the best radio station in St. Louis witch is the Point.
I might be a little prejudice here since I have a family member working there
and if Mr. Clooney makes an appearance, I just might get a chance to meet
him.
Of course I would hope he has a chance to visit the Arch, the Science Center,
the best zoo in the nation and our beautiful Forest Park.

Check out Chuck Berry at Blueberry Hill next time he’s there. It’s not an oppotunity that comes every day. Sample all the Fitz’s sodas while he’s there, and then take in one of the best zoos in the country.

Mr Clooney, the coolest actor on the planet ( to me anyway) should hang at the Ritz Carlton of course, visit Luminere Place, Take in a Blues Game, visit Union Station, and have dinner at Al’s Steakhouse. Leisurely he should grab some White Castles, or Steak N Shake, or Check out the Art Museum and Forest Park. He definitely needs to take home a gooey butter cake!! Don’t forget the Toasted ravioli’s From Pasta House, and since ice cream was also invented here he must go to Ted Drew’s Frozen Custard, if they are open. Maybe Check out the Bevo mill, for some authentic German Cuisine!! He should check out the Fox Theatre, and then he should meet up with really cool people at the coolest Church in town “St. Louis Family Church”, for worship on Friday evening or Sunday Morning and meet some really cool people, or meet me! Really! I’m a huge fan! So many women really are interested in George’s looks and money, I’m interested in that but really who he is . And by the way George I will escort you if you like stricktly platonic!
