What should George Clooney do while he’s in town?

George Clooney
As we brainstormed this idea in the newsroom, my colleague Amanda St. Amand had a quick answer: George Clooney should visit her house! Put aside the fact that Mandy is married. She’d be happy to send him a MapQuest link to her abode.
But with the hunky movie star coming to town to film Up in the Air, we thought it would be fun to recommend stuff Clooney should be sure to do while he’s in the area. Crews were supposed to start setting up yesterday and production could be going on for about five months.
No idea yet how long Clooney will be in the ‘hood. But let’s assume it’ll be for a few months, on-and-off. Besides the Arch and the brewery tour (which I shared with my brother’s family over Christmas), what else would you recommend?
Oh, and one last thing: If you think this is a dumb topic, keep your thoughts to yourself and go over here, where I’m sure you can find a nice discussion about Iraq, or the banking crisis.

Kurt is the director of social media for the Post-Dispatch, where he has worked since August 2002. He's been a journalist since 1982, covering municipal government, courts, education and two hurricanes as a reporter before becoming an editor.
He should take a few days with some local celebs and hit the town…
Lunch at Crown Candy
Dinner on the hill at many places
dessert at Ted Drews
too bad Grant’s Farm is closed for the season
Baseball game if he is still in town in the Spring!
George should definely try Villa Farottos in Chesterfield Valley while in Missouri - great food, great music and most of all great crowd. No rif raf.
Kay Hammond
Hey, k hammond: Thanks for your comment. I’ve been to Villa Faratto’s in Chesterfield….so I guess you can’t say there is ALWAYS no rif-raf.
A trip to Crown’s Candy!! A trip to the New Catherdral–if not for anything else the art is magnificant. If he here’s April 6 - Opening Day for the Cards game…I can make sure he has a ticket.
Honestly, who cares…..Most people like him have the money and connects to do WHATEVER they want. I am sure St Louis is trival in his world.
Send the boy to Seamus McDaniels on Oakland. They might even let him sit on Uncle Milo’s bar stool!
Why do so many people spell `Ted Drewes’ incorrectly?
I forgot to mention: for a cast of unforgettable characters, Clooney should also visit The Shanty in South St. Louis. You never know what you’ll hear, see or experience in that place. Fun time.
He should make plans to leave as soon as possible. We don’t need his kind here
He should have dinner at the Old Speghetti Factory in Downtown St Louis followed by a carriage ride.
