What should George Clooney do while he’s in town?

George Clooney

George Clooney

As we brainstormed this idea in the newsroom, my colleague Amanda St. Amand had a quick answer: George Clooney should visit her house! Put aside the fact that Mandy is married. She’d be happy to send him a MapQuest link to her abode.

But with the hunky movie star coming to town to film Up in the Air, we thought it would be fun to recommend stuff Clooney should be sure to do while he’s in the area. Crews were supposed to start setting up yesterday and production could be going on for about five months.

No idea yet how long Clooney will be in the ‘hood. But let’s assume it’ll be for a few months, on-and-off. Besides the Arch and the brewery tour (which I shared with my brother’s family over Christmas), what else would you recommend?

Oh, and one last thing: If you think this is a dumb topic, keep your thoughts to yourself and go over here, where I’m sure you can find a nice discussion about Iraq, or the banking crisis.

George Clooney should visit North St Louis so he can see firsthand what a bombed out city this is. Maybe he could even do a movie sometime in the future about how segregated a city we are.

I think the Hill, Zoo and Forest Park are all great suggestions. I would include some T-rav’s and Ted Drewes to the ever growing list.

He should go where any self respecting hot male actor would go…..the East Side. Best clubs in the mid-west and you all know it.

Well, the Hill is a good idea for dinner, but for nightlife, he should end up in the loop, maybe Blueberry Hill. Awsome.

Check out some real St.Louis night life.Go to the stroll on the North Side, and pick up a $20 crack ho and spend a little quality time with her (or him)Then go to a restruant and have some fried chicken, chitlings, and cold watermelon. He could wash it down with some cold Colt 45 malt liquor.

I believe Mr.Clooney should see the Art Musuem, because it is the last building still standing from the 1904 Worlds Fair. Also, The Cahokia Indian Mounds which are over 5,ooo years old. Forest Park which is larger than Central Park in New York City. THe Hill and Giovannis Italian Resturant. Grants Farm and the World famous Clydesdales. He might enjoy a ride along Hwy. 94 into the Missouri Wine Country. A trip up the River Road in Illinois to see the Bald Eagles feeding this time of year. I could go on for hours with unique place to see in the St. Louis area.

I think George should come stay with me. And then maybe go to the Arch, the Brewery, Soulard (and of course join in for Mardi Gras). And again, after all this is done, come back to my house.

Steve M. I can’t disagree with your choice of activities, but I think you’re confusing George Clooney with Hugh Grant. :^)
