What should George Clooney do while he’s in town?

George Clooney

George Clooney

As we brainstormed this idea in the newsroom, my colleague Amanda St. Amand had a quick answer: George Clooney should visit her house! Put aside the fact that Mandy is married. She’d be happy to send him a MapQuest link to her abode.

But with the hunky movie star coming to town to film Up in the Air, we thought it would be fun to recommend stuff Clooney should be sure to do while he’s in the area. Crews were supposed to start setting up yesterday and production could be going on for about five months.

No idea yet how long Clooney will be in the ‘hood. But let’s assume it’ll be for a few months, on-and-off. Besides the Arch and the brewery tour (which I shared with my brother’s family over Christmas), what else would you recommend?

Oh, and one last thing: If you think this is a dumb topic, keep your thoughts to yourself and go over here, where I’m sure you can find a nice discussion about Iraq, or the banking crisis.

The one thing first and foremost George should do upon entering our beloved village is not to call it “the Lou.” That should endear him to everyone.

George should come to the East Side too. He could hit Fast Eddie’s in Alton, especially when Planet Boogie is playing. When he returns back to his hotel in St. Louis, he should definitely check out the St. Louis skyline…..the best in the world…especially on a clear night.

He should go to Filonie’s Thurs of course.
Crown Candy for a treat
Mardi Gras, he should be on a float. imagine the beads.
St. Patrick’s day he needs to go to St. James in Dog Town
He should make a guest appearance for the Bob Costa’s Children’s and Cardinal Glennon fund raiser
Blue berry hill would be a fun place to go visit.
Fast Eddies would also be good time.

He must enjoy a cocktail at an upscale restaruant/lounge,Villa Farottos,in the Chesterfield Valley area. The music starts at 8 and the frequenters swarm to the dance floor. The friendly upbeat people and music will keep him feeling warm and fuzzy.

Knowing that you enjoy the occasional motorcyle ride, I know of a local HD dealership that would loan you a bike while you’re here in St. Louis for those rides to the local establishments around and in the St. Louis/Metro East side area. We have some of the best motorcyling routes in the country including the River Road along the Mississippi and Illinois rivers. After riding the bike after your stay you could sign the bike as Jay Leno has done for one of our biggest biking events held in October, the March of Dimes “Bikers for Babies” St. Louis, MO run. The St. Louis area has the best groups of motorcyclists that come together for this one event. Come ride with us if you dare and make a difference to preventing pre-mature birth defects at the same time. What an offer!
