What should George Clooney do while he’s in town?

George Clooney

George Clooney

As we brainstormed this idea in the newsroom, my colleague Amanda St. Amand had a quick answer: George Clooney should visit her house! Put aside the fact that Mandy is married. She’d be happy to send him a MapQuest link to her abode.

But with the hunky movie star coming to town to film Up in the Air, we thought it would be fun to recommend stuff Clooney should be sure to do while he’s in the area. Crews were supposed to start setting up yesterday and production could be going on for about five months.

No idea yet how long Clooney will be in the ‘hood. But let’s assume it’ll be for a few months, on-and-off. Besides the Arch and the brewery tour (which I shared with my brother’s family over Christmas), what else would you recommend?

Oh, and one last thing: If you think this is a dumb topic, keep your thoughts to yourself and go over here, where I’m sure you can find a nice discussion about Iraq, or the banking crisis.

Once he’s here for a few weeks, he’ll probably decide how to push up production a little and get out of town. Pretty tame here when you have to compare it to the culture and beauty of Lake Como.

It would be cool if he visited some of the Visual and Performing Arts School in the SLPS district and talk to the drama students about what it takes to get where he is. That would be educational for the students. I would love to see him at my school.

Great Topic, I love it!!!

I think George should visit St. Patrick’s Center. He could see what wonderful work they do there, and it would show him that not everyone who is religious is a bad person. Many religious people spend their time doing really great things for others. Too bad no one ever talks about them.

After that, he should come pick me up for our date wearing one of those really sharp tuxedo’s that he wears on award shows. Then, he should take me to dinner at Tony’s in Alton, and after that we can go get our party on at Fast Eddie’s. That should give him the range of high class to low class!

After that, he should take me back to his hotel room, close the door, start slowly undress…

Whoops, I got away with myself a little bit there! Sorry! :)

I think George should join me and my daughter for dinner at the Original Crusoes on Osceola and Compton on Tuesday nights. :)

If he’s a golfer, my husband will host him at our country club on a nice day. There are some great local restaurants in our area (or we can eat at the club) that we can quietly enter and he can relax and enjoy. It would be a delight to meet him (that’s an understatement, but I’m married) and have a chance to know him as a person and not focus on his celebrity status!
