What should George Clooney do while he’s in town?

George Clooney
As we brainstormed this idea in the newsroom, my colleague Amanda St. Amand had a quick answer: George Clooney should visit her house! Put aside the fact that Mandy is married. She’d be happy to send him a MapQuest link to her abode.
But with the hunky movie star coming to town to film Up in the Air, we thought it would be fun to recommend stuff Clooney should be sure to do while he’s in the area. Crews were supposed to start setting up yesterday and production could be going on for about five months.
No idea yet how long Clooney will be in the ‘hood. But let’s assume it’ll be for a few months, on-and-off. Besides the Arch and the brewery tour (which I shared with my brother’s family over Christmas), what else would you recommend?
Oh, and one last thing: If you think this is a dumb topic, keep your thoughts to yourself and go over here, where I’m sure you can find a nice discussion about Iraq, or the banking crisis.

Kurt is the director of social media for the Post-Dispatch, where he has worked since August 2002. He's been a journalist since 1982, covering municipal government, courts, education and two hurricanes as a reporter before becoming an editor.
George should go to the hill there is very fine dining there like Gian Tony’s. And if he doesn’t want to go to the hill there is also Megglios (Bridgeton, MO). There is something for everyone in St. Louis.
Rent or borrow a motorcycle (or bring his own) and ride up Highway 79 to Louisiana, cross the Mississippi and then go South to Grafton. Might spot some eagles on the way, and can then have a meal at the Fin Inn.
Well since the movie will be shooitng in Affton High School. He should visit Affton Cafe.
City Museum cocktail hour, and the cwe
Visit with lots of his long, long time fans here in St. Louis. Ms. Jean Melcher who I have worked with for 11 years is a long time full fleged fan of George. She would love to meet him and I would love that to happen for her also. Write me and lets surprise Jean please.
I think a lot of married sluts of both genders will be chasing George, including Kurt! Leave the poor guy alone. He probably has his watering holes already scoped out. Thank god for small airports so he can fly out of here each night.
if he’s smart he will do what most celebrities that are stuck in small towns do. Stay in the nicest hotel around, order room service and hookers and maybe hang out at lumier place once in a while if we little people are lucky.
Celebrities that big don’t really venture out amongst the populace very much, would you? This city would mob him like he was a rugby ball.
Nothing better than some springtime bass and crappie fishing!!
I think he should invest in St. Louis and buy the St. Louis Rams & Cardinals. I think he would have a better chance turning these two organizations around. We might even be able to use him as a starting picture Cardinals or an offensive lineman for the Rams.
Hey George- Im sure there’s lots more to do in this town than I’ve ever done, but my suggestions are the same as some others with one addition. Yes - check out the Fox Theater. I’m sure it’s one of the most beautiful and elegant places inside that people have ever seen. Absolutely Spectacular!! And for a lo key and casual meal - definitely Fast Eddies! A mid afternoon lunch during the week should be pretty quiet, and they have THE BEST, COLDEST around. Some even say that Bon-Air is the #1 volume bar in the world! http://www.fasteddiesbonair.com/?mpf=frame And if you want your heart touched, go see Randy Grim at the Stray Rescue of St Louis. http://strayrescue.org/ I know you love animals (sorry to hear your pig died awhile back), and Randy has committed his life for his passion of saving the strays on the streets of St Louis. He’s a true hero and God-send to all the strays in St Louis that may have died a horrible death if not for him. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
