What should George Clooney do while he’s in town?

George Clooney
As we brainstormed this idea in the newsroom, my colleague Amanda St. Amand had a quick answer: George Clooney should visit her house! Put aside the fact that Mandy is married. She’d be happy to send him a MapQuest link to her abode.
But with the hunky movie star coming to town to film Up in the Air, we thought it would be fun to recommend stuff Clooney should be sure to do while he’s in the area. Crews were supposed to start setting up yesterday and production could be going on for about five months.
No idea yet how long Clooney will be in the ‘hood. But let’s assume it’ll be for a few months, on-and-off. Besides the Arch and the brewery tour (which I shared with my brother’s family over Christmas), what else would you recommend?
Oh, and one last thing: If you think this is a dumb topic, keep your thoughts to yourself and go over here, where I’m sure you can find a nice discussion about Iraq, or the banking crisis.

Kurt is the director of social media for the Post-Dispatch, where he has worked since August 2002. He's been a journalist since 1982, covering municipal government, courts, education and two hurricanes as a reporter before becoming an editor.
it would be super if he would visit the Childrens Hospital and Nursing Homes.Carol Burnett always did this when out of town.
Maybe he can put on the old mullet from his Facts of Life days and pal around with the yahoos around here who just have to take a dig at St. Louis.
George enjoy yourself while you are in town. Hoepfully he will find it nice and accomdating and help promote St. Louis for furture movie making opportunities.
I think he should have dinner with Larry Rice and visit some of the homeless spots around town.
He definitely needs to go up in the arch–get a good look at the city from up there. I don’t care how cold it is while he is here, he must try Ted Drews!!
I think he should take a 2 hour drive & visit us at the Lake of the Ozarks.
It’s a beautiful place to visit even during the winter.
Lodging would be free since he could stay at Brad’s place.
George, you ought to check out some other things that us hoosier Missourians like to do out side of St. Louis when we are not on Washington Street clubing it up, or at the ball game drinking a Bev Light. These things could include, but are not limited to, going to Party Cove at the Lake of the Ozarks, going to Mudfest in Robertsville in the spring time and getting down and dirty, seeing a Demolition Derby, or even a Tractor Pull! There is nothing at our zoo or museum that you haven’t seen elsewhere, but do go to the Hill and Ted Drewes.
Spend a long weekend trout fishing at Montauk State Park; weekend catch & release season is going on now, and catch-n-keep season opens March 1!
Welcome, George, to Missouri — the “Show Me How to Drive” state!
Please know that not everyone here adds “rs” to their words — waRsh, for example, as in “I go to Warshington University” or is lazy with their “os” — the infamous highway 44 becomes farty-far, where you drive to get yar carn farks. Etc.
As for what to see or where to eat, there are the standards as mentioned above as well as little out of the way places such as Murdoch Perk (for breakfast — haven’t yet been there for anything else) and Van Goghz on Shenandoah and Compton. While you’re in that neighborhood, you can check out the beautiful homes in Compton Heights. There are a couple other places that are musts, but the names are eluding me right now. I’ll write again.
Shaved Duck….
Iron Barley….
Yumanji (sp?) for Brazilian….
Hmmm…
Onesto (sp?) for pizza….
Alandale’s in Kirkwood — especially for blackberry wheat if they’re brewing it….
Why on earth would you want to take him to Rigazzi’s - come on. The Hill is great but he’d be better off at Lorenzo’s, Dominic’s or Favazza’s.
