Why did Sarah Palin resign?

On Friday, Sarah Palin abruptly announced that she will resign as Alaska governor at the end of the month. She was supposed to serve until the end of 2010 and had the option of running for re-election.

According to the New York Times, she offered conflicting signals about her intentions and her motivation.

In her tone and some of her words in an often-rambling announcement, she sounded like someone who was making a permanent exit from politics after what her friends have called a rough and dispiriting year.

But her remarks, delivered in a voice that often seemed rushed and jittery, sounded at times like those of a candidate with continued national aspirations, as when she suggested she could “fight for all our children’s future from outside the governor’s office.”

Ms. Palin said that she had decided not to seek re-election when her term expires at the end of next year and that, given that, she did not think it was fair to her constituents to continue in office.

Her resignation came after her run as vice presidential candidate was criticized in a Vanity Fair article.

Rumors also circulated on Internet blogs that Palin was under investigation for embezzling funds in the construction of Wasilla, Alaska, sports arena.

According to Politico, Palin’s attorney threatened to sue any media outlet that published those rumors.

“This is to provide notice to Ms. Moore, and those who republish the defamation, such as Huffington Post, MSNBC, The New York Times and The Washington Post, that the Palins will not allow them to propagate defamatory material without answering to this in a court of law,” Van Flein warned, citing Alaska liberal blogger Shannyn Moore.

According to CBS News, the FBI announced that there is no Palin investigation.

Here is a video of Palin announcing her resignation.

Why do you think Palin resigned? Was it solely because of the media? How has the media been unfair to Palin? Is resigning a smart move for Palin?

What do you think the future holds for Palin? Will she disappear from the media limelight now that she is no longer in office? Is that her intention?

Much easier to prepare for that 2012 run if not encumbered by office duties in Alaska, obviously—easier also for simply raising money, for that matter.

Even if you view her as our worst, she’s still miles ahead of the Ahmadineijads of the world—which is another way of pointing out ‘American Exceptionalism’, I guess…

-Can’t know, don’t care. She is an enigma wrapped up inside of a paradoxical conundrum.

-The MSM certainly seems obsessed with her though. She doesn’t fit any of their preconceived molds.

There is obviously more to this story than we currently know. Why would a sitting governor resign their office? If her family obligations are more important than her political agenda she should have thought of that before she ran for office.

I’m just glad she’s threatening to sue certain media outlets that spread lies about her and her family. Finally, someone takes a stand against you nazi’s in the press.

Sarah Palin is one of the best examples of liberal Democrat hypocrisy.

With all they claim to stand for, there was nary a peep in her defense from the “thoughtful” liberal progressives.

Retard jokes… you’d have thought we’d be past that but the lefty blogs are overflowing with them

Slutty flight attendant jokes… supplied by good old Letterman

Females-too-dumb-to-know-they’re-dumb snickering… brought endlessly from the MSM

Distasteful ridicule of children… Letterman again, among many:

And would you believe that Andrew Sullivan/The Atlantic STILL recycles the “Who Is Really Trig’s Mom?” theme ??

They truly are disgusting hypocrites.

Sarah is a fox in more ways than one. She’ll outmaneuver the low-life liberal lunatics sniping at her heels; especially those ugly NOW members.

She’s leaving to get her own reality TV show ”Sarah and Todd plus 5”. Which will show her fight against ‘the man’ aka MSM and her road to 2012.

Sounds like good TV to me! :o)

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$- money folks - why else does anyone do anything. Even the liberal media want a piece of her. Who would you rather watch, Sarah Palin or Rachael Maddow. MSNBC’s line up can’t even get in the top ten - all behind Fox News. The leftyloon lawsuits have left her in severe debt. So she’ll show them. Now she will fight back in her own way. She doesn’t make enough as governor. She is a hot commodity and kudos to her for taking advantage of striking while the iron is hot.

“I am now looking ahead and how we can advance this country together with our values of less government intervention, greater energy independence, stronger national security, and much-needed fiscal restraint” -Sarah Palin. YES!!! YES!!! YES!!!

1) She resigned because Obama is going to destroy everything America stands for, and her mission is to make sure they know what he’s doing. It’s communism. Isn’t it ashame she has to do the media’s job because the media is so in love with the guy, the truth fails to come out?

2) The media has everything to be afraid of, because she’s going to expose this Obama guy for what he is.

3) Her resignation is a smart move because it’s her turn to sell her book & make some cash, and then take down Obama. Obama made millions on trashing whites in his book, so I think this woman - who has a strong belief in Christ and protecting the unborn - should also have a shot.

4) She won’t disappear, much to the media’s wishes. She’s a good-looking, pro-life woman. Had she been a liberal pro-choice, the media and the liberals would have her on a pedestal.

FINAL INTENTION: THE WHITE HOUSE. And I’ll vote for her.
