Dan Martin, the man behind the Weatherbird, was off this week. So I kind of took the opportunity to take a couple of days off from the Bird’s blog, too. Of course, the Weatherbird gets no such break, so let’s catch up.

They’re selling beer at the Bond County Fair — for the first time (legally) in 60 years. Evidently the town of Greenville is dry, although there’s a petition circulating that could put that issue on the ballot.

Thursday’s Bird line: I’ll drink to that

Missouri’s school test results also came out this week, and they’re looking good. In fact, sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders are doing better than ever. (On the flip side, elementary and high school students scores weren’t quite as positive.) You can still see how your student did.
