Detroit’s Big 3 running on empty

The executives of Detroit’s Big Three car companies drove to the capital to ask Congress for $34 billion. They drove this time — new hybrid vehicles from each of their respective companies — after lawmakers chastised the executives for flying private jets to the first round of congressional hearings. Whether their gestures will help them get the loan remains to be seen.
