Weatherbird vote: Big 3 automakers ask for big bucks
The executives behind Detroit’s “Big Three” returned to D.C. today to make their case for a bailout. This time they left the private jets at home, each arriving in a hybrid vehicle made by their company. Still, a $34 billion rescue plan raised plenty of questions and brought few answers. The executives agreed that a bailout should include a supervisory government board, which would have power similar to reorganizing efforts under bankruptcy law, but the Big Three have shunned the notion of filing for bankruptcy.
