On the markets, today was quite a downer. In fact, today the major indexes hit their lowest levels since 1997. The Dow Jones industrial average was down 250 to close at 7,114. The Standard & Poor’s 500 index was down 26 to close at 743. The Nasdaq composite index was down 53 to close at 1,387.
