How’s the Bird going to handle the heat?
Triple-digit temperatures may hit the area Saturday, and special efforts are being made to keep people from overheating, especially at two big outdoors events. The forecast for Saturday is 100, which would be the hottest day so far this year and the first 100-degree day since Aug. 23, 2007.
Authorities are especially concerned, as two more deaths from heat were reported Friday.
The St. Louis Fire Department plans to run showers from two pumpers outside Busch Stadium for theĀ midday game against the Minnesota Twins. And organizers of PrideFest, the annual gay-pride festival in Tower Grove Park, promise at least five cooling tents and free iced water.
It is expected to cool down somewhat on Sunday, with a forecast high of 89.
