What’s the Bird’s take on booze ads on bus shelters?
Ron Wade
St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Some area bus shelter advertisements for alcoholic beverages have drawn the criticism of community leaders, and two of the ads violate Metro’s recently updated advertising standards.

Some shelters in St. Louis and St. Louis County carry a Colt 45 malt liquor ad with an image of actor Billy Dee Williams. An ad for Major League Baseball’s All-Star game at Busch Stadium touts Budweiser. Ads reviewed by the Post-Dispatch lack language mandated by Metro stating the legal drinking age in Missouri or warning of the potential hazards of alcohol consumption during pregnancy, while driving and while operating machinery.
Metro officials have pledged to fix the ads within the next week.
