The buzz is already picking up as we head into a weekend of events commemorating the 40th anniversary of man’s landing on the moon — July 20, 1969. The St. Louis Science Center has numerous exhibits and events. And Sunday’s Community section of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch will feature an extensive report on what the Apollo 11 mission meant to people here.

…I salute the Moon expedition of NASA and the Apollo 11 crew, but thats about it. The Apollo/Moon program really jumped the shark for me with the lunar rover stunts. Why are we planning on sending astronauts back up there? It makes no sense, it’s a waste of money. Space exploration should be done with robotics now. Much smaller spacecraft with no human environment, and performance envelopes/mission durations not based human survivability.
