The Bird watches more Southwest flights soar at Lambert
The dramatic cut in flights from Lambert-St. Louis International Airport planned by American Airlines will be eased somewhat by Southwest Airlines, which announced that it will add nine daily flights beginning in May. The destinations will include several cities — San Diego and New Orleans among them — that would no longer have been served by nonstop service from St. Louis.
About a month ago, American Airlnies announced major cuts in flights from Lambert by next summer.
With the addition of the new flights, Southwest will be the dominant carrier at Lambert in daily departures , airport officials said.

Southwest is providing more flights while the rest take away more; who would have thought providing good service and great prices would make a business flourish? Capitalism at it’s finest.
Lambert officials are proving and working hard to show that Lambert St. Louis International is going to be a strong airport again! Thanks to Southwest Airlines for turning STL into a (sort of) hub and also to AeroMexico and others for adding air service this year from our Lambert. In addition, from what I hear, more flights and airlines may be on the way! KUDOS!
Southwest is a great airline. Their employees actually enjoy working there and treat customers with respect. Imagine that. Kudos to Southwest and add more flights!
More St. Louisans going some place else for vacations, fun and recreation.
And they leave a lot of money in those cities. Much coming this way?
