St. Louis-area home sales had their biggest jump in at least a year in September, aided by the $8,000 federal tax credit for first-time homebuyers. Sales were up 6 percent, according to data compiled by the Post-Dispatch. Nationally, September home sales were the highest in two years, and up 9.2 percent from last year, based on figures from the National Association of Realtors.
