What’s the Bird say about the “Our Own Oddities” book signing?
Here’s your chance to get some holiday shopping out of the way early — and meet some artsy types at the same time.
A book signing for “Our Own Oddities” will be held Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at West County Center, near its food court.
Reading “Our Own Oddities” in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch was a Sunday morning ritual for half a century. But the comic strip disappeared nearly two decades ago. Now it’s coming back in book form, with the original comics updated and remastered. We’ve contacted many of the people featured in the original strips to update the odd stories they shared.
Signing the book will be:
- Ralph Grazcak Jr., son of the artist of the original strip.
- Dan Martin, the Post-Dispatch’s Weatherbird artist since 1986 and only the sixth person to hold that position since the front-page comic made its debut in 1901.
- Tom Borgman, the book’s editor and graphics director for STLtoday.com and the Post-Dispatch.
