Erykah Badu will play the Fox
“New Amerykah” will be right here in St. Louis, if only for a night, when singer Erykah Badu holes up in the Fox Theater at 8 p.m. May 29. Opening for Badu is the Roots. The Roots also have a show this Friday night at Webster University, but don’t let that distract you from seeing them again.
Snap up your tickets for Badu and the Roots beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday through MetroTix. Tickets are $38-$59.
Badu’s near-experimental yet incredible album “New Amerykah: Part One (4th World War”) featuring “Honey” recently debuted at No. 2 on both the Billboard 200 and the Top R&B/Hip-Hop albums chart, both behind Janet Jackson.
Badu performed in St. Louis last year during a semi-private show for the National Urban League conference. The crowd, seemingly far removed from her core audience, just didn’t get her. She won’t run into the same problem this time around.
