Leona Lewis tops chart, breaks records, inspires yawns
British import and Simon Cowell favorite Leona Lewis’ “Spirit” CD debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 today as expected, after selling 205,000 copies its first week out. That makes her the first British female artist to debut at the top and the first British artist, male or female, to debut at the top with a debut album.
And I still don’t get her.
I get that Lewis can undeniable sing her face off, after years of apparently studying Mariah Carey for all that’s worth. And she’s strikingly beautiful, no doubt. But her songs are like lullabies, and not in a good way.
Wake me when she’s done, would ya?
