Eclectic music showcase set for Loop Sunday

We get that the Riverfront Times is a competitor of the Post-Dispatch and that’s cool. But there’s still no way to pretend the RFT Music Showcase 2006, taking place 2 p.m.-midnight Sunday throughout the Delmar Loop, isn’t a reality and of interest to St. Louis’ music community.
Over 40 bands will perform throughout several Loop venues including Blueberry Hill, Brandt’s, Cicero’s, Halo Bar, Delmar Lounge, Pin-Up Bowl, and Vintage Vinyl. There’s also a main outdoor stage.
Some of the artists, many of them favorites of mine, include Gentleman Auction House, Vandalyzm, Jumbling Towers, the Feed, Earthworms, Gotta Be Karim, Lamar Harris, Magnolia Summer, Tom Hall, DJ Needles, DJ Trackstar, DJ Crucial, Sex Robots, the Incurables, and more.
The music showcase, which also has an awards component, costs you $5 for a wristband.

Another great music event this weekend is 14 hours of all-acoustic music at the OLTA Art & Craft Fair. It’s at Olive and Taylor in the Central West End. The event is billed as “All hand-made art, craft, and music.”
The OLTA weekend features one acoustic performer or group per hour from Noon to 7 p.m on Saturday and Sunday. And it’s free, no wristbands required. (Made possible by Schlafly Beer).
