Summer music’s blank spots are filling in quickly now that Fair St. Louis Foundation has taken the lid off of its Live on the Levee and Fair St. Louis lineups, with Joss Stone, Black Crowes, Anthony Hamilton, One Republic, and Boyz II Men among the highlights.
One great thing about the events, besides the obvious headliners, is the events often give smaller, local support acts their largest audience ever.
St. Louis acts Shannon Nicole, Jive and Wail Dueling Pianos, Usual Suspects, and the Charles Glenn Band open for Joss Stone July 4 at Fair St. Louis.
Jefferson City resident Gloria Brand, who plays in St. Louis regularly, opens for Anthony Hamilton July 5 at Fair St. Louis.
On the Live on the Levee front, St. Louis band Borderline opens for Lonestar July 12.
New York City’s Steel Train opens for O.A.R. July 18.
Local favorite Marquise Knox opens for War July 19.
Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, who hail from Vermont, support the Black Crowes July 25.
St Louis’ La Push open for One Republic July 26.
Fabulous Motown Revue, a St. Louis staple, open for Boyz II Men Aug. 1.
Columbia’s Bockman open for Rusted Root Aug. 2.
There is no opener for the July 11 Umphrey’s McGee show with Sound Tribe Sector 9.
All concerts are free, and take place on the St. Louis riverfront.

Sounds like a hot and unusually soulful summer on the levee…
