Madonna’s “Hard Candy” goes down easily with music buyers
Madonna fans ate up 280,000 copies of her ”Hard Candy” last week, making it the new No. 1 album.
That takes Mariah Carey’s “E=MC2,” the chart-topper the past two weeks, down to the runner-up slot after selling 95,000 copies last week. Leona Lewis’ durable “Spirit” sold 84,000 copies, good enough for the third slot.
The rest of the top ten is filled out by Lyfe Jennings’ “Lyfe Change,” Def Leppard’s “Songs From the Sparkle Lounge,” the Roots’ “Rising Down,” Portishead’s “Third,” Tom Petty side project Mudcrutch’s self-titled effort, “Now 27,” and Tim McGraw’s “Greatest Hits Vol. 1 and 2.”

Kevin C. Johnson has covered the St. Louis' music and nightlife scene for the past decade.
