Natasha Bedingfield handicaps “Idol”; heads out for new tour including Pageant date
Pop singer Natasha Bedingfield, headed to St. Louis June 8 for a concert at the Pageant, chatted with me Monday to talk up her new disc, her first headlining tour, and her “American Idol” finale pick.
Bedingfield, who performed “Pocketful of Sunshine” recently on the show, says she likes both Davids, Cook and Archuleta, but did reveal a preference.
They’ll compete on “American Idol” Tuesday night, with the results given Wednesday.
“I liked David Cook’s rendition of Michael Jackson’s ‘Billie Jean.’ He did that very well. And I like David Archuleta because there’s a hole in the market for someone like him, a cute boy who can sing,” she says.
“I would be happy with either one of them, but I think I might go with Archuleta,” says Bedingfield, who won’t be watching live. Her tour begins Wednesday in Myrtle Beach.
Bedingfield says she was smitten with judge Paula Abdul, that she and Randy Jackson were flirty, and Simon Cowell called her “lippy. He kept his arms crossed up to the end of my song. Then he came up to me and asked if he made me nervous. I said no.”
Bedingfield’s new CD is “Pocketful of Sunshine.”
