Four of the city’s movers and shakers on the urban party scene are throwing their resources into the same pool to present the Ultimate Memorial Day Weekend, Friday-Sunday at the Loft, Lumen, and Skybox, respectively.

Koncepts, MPAC, 1st Friday-St. Louis, and Freetime are behind this weekend’s parties.

MPAC’s Mo Witherspoon says the groups, who normally unofficially compete for the much of the same crowd with their varied events, checked their egos and discovered there was strength in numbers.

“Honestly, we could’ve all done this on our own, but we came together for the great of the group,” says Witherspoon, who runs the Eye Candy events.

The Ultimate Memorial Day Weekend begins at 8 p.m. Friday with Flaunt Your Taste at the Loft, 3112 Olive Street, hosted by BET’s Terrence J. and presented by Hennessy. The All Black Affair featuring R&B singer Amerie and presented by Belvedere is at 8 p.m. Saturday at Lumen, 2201 Locust Street, with an open bar from 8 p.m.-10 p.m.

Elevate Your Night is at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Skybox, 800 North Third Street. It’s another Hennessey event, hosted by Will Witherspoon of the St. Louis Rams and sponsored by King magazine.

All the events will feature red carpet treatment and a roaming photographer and videographer. Tickets are $15-$20 each night, with advance purchase recommended.
