Kevin C. Johnson has covered the St. Louis' music and nightlife scene for the past decade.
Something from Pablo Honey would have been nice as a throw back to the old timers who have been with the group since the beginning. Creep would have been too much to ask. I’ve heard it once in concert in DC in 2003, and that was an AMAZING, rare experience. But there are other old school songs they could have tapped into like You or Stop Whispering or Thinking About You.
Did anyone else get the sense that vocally, Thom was tired?
It seems Thom doesn’t put as much effort into making his vocals “perfect” as he once did in the Pablo Honey/Bends/OK Computer days.. to say it’s a fault would be subjective, but an observation nonetheless.
The concert was amazing. Probably one of the best I’ve seen of Radiohead. I thought their Kid A rendition was amazing. Really would have liked to seen The Tourist, as they played in Tampa, but Kid A sufficed. To the poster above, to my knowledge they very rarely play Let Down live anymore. You’re not the only one who would have loved to have heard it.
I was so amazed when they played Fake Plastic Trees I didn’t care what else they played. To me, every other song they may have left out was more than made up for by them playing FPT. Optimistic was a surprise, and a great one at that.
i hate all of you who like karma police. i should SPAF each of you terrible radiohead fans. go listen to coldplay.
I really wanted to here Creep. It is they’re only really good song that I no besides the bestest Radiohead Karma Police. I heard one of they’re other songs and it just weren’t that good, i think it were called Pablo Hunny. Because I really like that one song TreeFingers. I were really upsetted about them not playing them three songs. O well, I is gonna see them lollapalooza and hopefully they gonna play Creep. Man that wood be flantastic!
“I’m a creep…..I’m a weirdo”
It is my theme song dude!
What a great show! There are not lot of words to tell how awesome the show was you just have to be there. I didn’t care what songs radiohead. I was just happy to hear them live.
Perfect.
During Exit Music, almost everyone in the amphitheater had their lighters up, as did I, and when the distorted bass and drums kick in at “You can laugh,” my lighter literally exploded. It was pretty surreal.
Its true that the didn’t play a lot of great songs, but thats only because they have so many great songs to play. I personally thought that they had a great setlist and the whole concert was a mind blowing experience.
Anyone that’s pissed that radiohead didn’t play a song they wanted to hear should think about their extensive catalog of great songs. It’s a stupid point to bring up, but look at all the songs on the ridiculous ITunes “Best of Radiohead” or whatever it’s called. I’ve seen them 6 times and have never been disappointed. Part of the reason for the omission of the Hail To The Thief material is that they never really liked that album. Check out some interviews. They never really “finished” it.. even though I think it was great, they basically thought of it as a way to get out of the record contract. Anyways, so what if they didn’t play your “song…” I remember hearing people yelling at Rosemont Theatre in ‘98 about how pissed they were that that they didn’t play Creep. Maybe some other songs have become “Creeps” to them. I’m really surprised they even did paranoid android. Just a thought, but I will appreciate them whenever I am lucky enough to see them. They can play anything they want to, and I know I will love it.
