Concert update: Robert Plant/Alison Krauss drop a Fox show

The Robert Plant/Alison Krauss concert with T Bone Burnett at the Fox Theatre is changing yet again.

First, the June 19 show was moved to Sept. 24, with a Sept. 25 show added. Both shows were set to be filmed for a live DVD.

Now we learn that’s all changing. Due to a change in schedules, the second show will not take place, and neither will the filming.

Tickets for the June 19 show will be honored at the Sept. 24 show. Those with tickets who can’t attend the Sept. 24 show could contact MetroTix at 314-534-1111.

What a rip-off. First, they cancel the June 19 show (I had 12th row seats), then they cancel the DVD which the whole reason for the show being re-scheduled in the first place. Irritating paying fans is not an artist needs to be remembered.

We did not learn about the first cancellation until after we drove two hours on the date of the show (6-19-08). Now, to learn the reason for the original cancellation has been changed is infuriating. Maybe everyone should give the Fox, Ticketmaster and Plant/Krauss the same respect they have given the fans………by returning their tickets………

so they go around screwing with the fans lives,i.e babysitters…..jobs…time on road…. they should give the concert for free….that is what they should do, sorry wouldn’t want them to part with their ,millions. I don’t like this whole duet garbage anyway.

Come on Bob. Tell Alison to find Bob Dylan if she wants a partner and you call Jim Page and say lets rock and roll, you black dog! Lets do it before the levee breaks so all of our fans can have a celebration day.

Par for the course with summer Plant shows. He usually gets a case of streph throat at least once during a tour, but promotions probably put a different spin on it, as not to tarnish the seemingly pristine image of the tour. All B.S., just like the CD.

Oh, and if anybody has anything to say that is less than flattering about the current tour, you’d better post them fast because the fan club zanies will put these kind of things to a quick and sudden halt !!!!! Like the good one that was just gaining momentum at the Chicago Trib…..

We thought of going to Red Rock, then I saw I could get 2nd row pit, center stage at the Fox Theatre. My wife and I don’t usually spend much on ourselves and would never think of spending that kind of money on a concert. But we thought this would be something special so we went for it. After waiting 3 months, we were fired up for the show. If I hadn’t been looking at reviews the Saturaday prior to the show we probably would have drove 6 hours for ‘Nothing’. I saw this blog a few days ago with no comments, came back to say waiting 3 more months to be a part of the CD may be worth the wait. I couldn’t believe what I was reading when I got here, even had to go to fabulousfox.com to confirm. Many choice words came to mind… I’ll just say very, very disappointed. Thanks for Nothing

What I meant was being a part of the DVD, which I don’t know I would even purchase now cause it means ‘Nothin’! Still can’t believe I paid that kind of money to wait 6 months. I’d really like to see the show but it wont means as much; I suppose I could take the ‘Not Happy’ approach but it wouldn’t means as much unless I could hand RP & AK the tickets and say “No ‘Thank You’”.

As far as I am concerned Alison is too busy being fabulous & Robert is a legend in his own mind. The ONLY way I would see this concert if I won tickets some way.The songs are so hum-drum, mediocre songs. They are not worth the ticket prices. Funny, I read somewhere they expected a sell out in Texas LOL, you still can get floor seats. Or almost any half way decent seat. I like Alison’s voice, but I am afraid she has gone out on a limb this time. And losing this fan fast. If I was Union Staion, it would make me stand back and take a look at her. I am a little surprised that Stuart Duncan & Buddy Miller would fall for this crap. I guess the M word comes to mind. And last but not least, they must have reviewers in their back pocket to have have everyone of there reviews just absolutely wonderful.

Just goes to show the nature of journalism in all areas. Whether it’s entertainment or politics, it’s all watered down to be consumed by the consumer. Anything negative is now considered to be - negative. Actually, in this case, we all need to be reminded that concerts in general shouldn’t be taken too seriously. The days of getting seriously pumped up about a CD and looking forward to a head trip of a live show has come and gone. Gone Gone Gone! And yes, we’re left with Nothin’. It’s encouraging that there are still people out there with the appetite for enthralling entertainment, but I’d say that it’s a case of showing ones age. The stars of the show have reduced their endeavors to the level of personal vacations where they can do things that aren’t too difficult or demanding, and make the tours a travelling vessel of self gratification. It’s like comparing the memories of going to a full three ring Barnum and Bailey circus and now being offered a petting zoo for three times the amount of money. Yeah, every piece of drivel can win Grammys these days just because something is deemed different. Junk.
