Hakeem Tha Dream takes the lid of “Thick Wit It” clip
Local rapper Hakeem Tha Dream is following up his Super Jam performance at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater over the weekend with the release this week of his overdue “Thick Wit It” video.
Though “Thick Wit It” has been a radio and club staple for months and was already on and off Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, he’s only now unveiling the video.
Dana Christian directed the clip, shot three weeks ago at several St. Louis locations including Society nightclub, Avatar Studios, a hotel room at Lumiere Place, the Mayday Parade, and the rapper’s Yeatman Market neighborhood.
The booty-shakin’ video remains true to the song’s spirit. “Of course the ladies make the video what it is,” quips Hakeem Tha Dream, “but I also think it represents our movement. This is just the beginning.”
Hakeem Tha Dream was the subject of a Post-Dispatch profile last week.

Kevin C. Johnson has covered the St. Louis' music and nightlife scene for the past decade.
