Kanye who?

Rapper Lil Wayne’s new CD “Tha Carter III” has done what no CD in three years, including Kanye West’s “Graduation,” has done, and that’s sell a million copies its first week.

The last CD to do so was 50 Cent’s “The Massacre” in 2005.

The New Orleans artist’s sales more than doubles the first weeks of big CDs from Mariah Carey, Usher, and Madonna, putting it on track to become 2008’s biggest CD. Lil Wayne’s first-day sales were 423,000 copies.

Lil Wayne broke records without benefit of a manufactured beef, and despite the fact the CD was heavily leaked prior to its official release date last week.

His success, in the midst of another year of tumbling music sales, proves a couple of things. People will still legitimately pay for music they really want. And though the generally accepted rule is that leaks take away from CD sales, they can actually fuel interest.

“The Carter III” features the hit single “Lollipop.”

Lil Wayne’s past hits include “Fireman,” “Go DJ,” and “Tha Block is Hot.”

Wow…oh ok! That’s definitely a great accomplishment for Lil Wayne. I am excited for him. I personally haven’t heard any of his songs from his current CD other than “Lollipop”, but I imagine that he has a few more hits on his CD as well.

Now, on another note, knowing that sadly enough, a lot of young adult/teen black parents these days are all about the newest trends, I am interested in seeing the effects that Lil Wayne’s current CD cover will have on these parents!?!? Lets hope that in the near future we don’t see any babies with fake/real tatoos on their face/knuckles, and diamond pinkie finger rings…LOL!!! That would be both sad and hilarious, but I honestly wouldn’t put it past some of the younger parents out there to do such a thing.

(side note: from a creativity point of view, i do like the picture on the CD cover though!)

It’s because the poor people that like his music don’t have computers to download it so they have to go out and buy the CD. Duh.

The song in which he goes off on Rev. Al Sharpton is hilarious. Kanye joined several other hot acts such as Robin Thicke and Babyface to help Lil Wayne put together what clearly will be the hottest album of the year! Have been listening to it (the real album…not the download) since last Tuesday.

Some PPl don’t get it when it comes down to Rap music especially gangsta Rap music. Gangasta rap music is just what it implies…gangsta themes, illegal activity to solict money, drug paraphanalia, and sex. If you expect gangsta rap to some how be acceptable for kids under the age 17… it will never happen. There is propably only one song from the Carter III that would be acceptable for adolescent ears. Nonetheless, it’s a great albumn. If you are a fan of rap music you will love it because of the clever punchlines and overall witty-ness. Although he really needs to focus his attention on stating a point in his songs. I let it slide because he has proven many times that he is capable of delivering a serious message… and stay on topic…unfortunately those songs were leaked onto the internet back in DEC 07…Mr. Carter best rapper alive!
